The National Monuments Service's description
In improved pasture, at base of a NE-facing slope, in a hollow defined by some loose boulders and mature deciduous trees. A keyhole-shaped well (dims. 0.7m NNE-SSE; 0.5m ESE-WNW) defined by a collapsed dry stone wall (H 0.75m). This natural spring well contains water (D 0.16m), with bubbles rising to the surface. There is a cup at the SW side to be used by pilgrims. A channel (long axis E-W) extends (L c. 60m) to the E where it drains into the Multeen River. It is depicted and named on the 1904 edition OS 6-inch map as 'Toberlaghteen' and according to O' Flanagan (1930, 93), 'there is a spot covered in thorns believed to be the site of a church [TS059-055001-], and about thirty paces to the south of it is a holy well called Tobar Lachtin, which was walled round and arched over and which is still visited by pilgrims on Saturdays. A Pattern was annually held here on Corpus Christi Thursday until about thirty years ago when it was abolished.' The church possible (TS059-055001-) is c. 25m to the NW.
