According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) the glebeland of the parish of Crohane in 1640 consisted of 4 acres of arable land leased to the vicar of the parish of Croahane whose vicarage was described as 'totally wast' (Simington 1954, vol.2, 401). In grassland situated on low rise of ground overlooking small stream to S, in upland region, with holy well (TS055-041003-) 60m to the NW. A 19th-century C of I church is located on site of the earlier church, fragments of which have been incorporated into the wall of the graveyard (TS055-041002-), including a window head from a single-light ogee-headed window built into the external face of the SW angle. Other fragments from the medieval church area also visible in the wall and within the graveyard. It is depicted as 'Site of church' on the 1840 OS 6-inch map, with a school house, now destroyed, in the NE angle of the graveyard. Described by O'Donovan as the old church of Cruachan Magh Abhna (Crogan-Moy-Owney), of which only the foundations were visible in 1840 and which measured 28ft [8.53m] long by 22ft [6.7m] wide with walls 'built of slaty stones cemented with lime and sand mortar' (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 1, 153-4). The remains of two 17th-century graveslabs (TS055-041004- and TS055-041005-) are in the graveyard and a 16th/early 17th-century graveslab (TS055-041006-) is embedded in the floor of the porch of the C of I church.
