The National Monuments Service's description
In grassland atop low rise of ground in upland region with good views in all directions. No surface remains of levelled castle (TS055-027001-) or settlement earthworks in field around castle as indicated on the 1903 ed. OS 6-inch map. Field was reclaimed and farm road constructed in 1971 when the field was levelled as part of the land reclamation works. Barely visible remains of low earthworks which were levelled may be visible to N of castle, these may be associated settlement earthworks around the castle.
