The National Monuments Service's description
Excavated monument described by Colum Hardy as 'a large sub-oval prehistoric enclosure' (TN048-056), located c.200m west of TN048-005 that was discovered along the lines of the future M8/N8 as part of the Cullahill to Cashel Road improvement scheme (Hardy 2008, i). Excavation of the ditched enclosure revealed the remains of a figure-of-eight cereal drying kiln (dims. L 3.1m; Wth 1.7m; D 1.1m) orientated on an E-W axis located in the NE quadrant of the enclosure. Evidence of a 19th century cottage with evidence of metalworking in the form of a series of furnace pits or pits filled with charcoal and metallurgical waste were also excavated in the vicinity of the enclosure (Hardy 2008, 9-10). It is unclear what period the cereal drying kiln dates from but it is unlikely to be contemporary with the ditched enclosure and is more likely to date from the early medieval period (Hardy 2008, 15)
