The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in grassland just off the top of a hill on a S-facing slope with good views in all directions. Present remains consist of a slightly raised circular area (int. diam. 31m N-S ; 33m E-W) enclosed by a flat-topped earth and stone bank (top Wth 2m; base Wth 5m; int. H 0.2-0.6m; ext. H 0.5- 1.5m) that is well preserved from N through E to S, elsewhere reduced to a scarp (H 0.6m) and outer fosse (base Wth 2m; top Wth 3.5m; ext. D 0.4m) visible from N through E to SSE and a wide causewayed entrance gap (Wth 5m) at E. The outer fosse has been filled in where it has been intersected by present field boundaries at S and W. There is a lot of stone in the bank at N where the top of the bank flattens out and there are several large stones protruding from the surface of the bank. The interior of the site is flat and well preserved and there are two cattle gaps in the banks at N and at SSE.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
