The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a gentle NW-facing slope in pasture. The site is heavily overgrown with scrub and a number of fallen trees around the bank; it was not possible to take diameters. The present remains consist of a circular area defined by a scarp (H 0.7m), a fosse (Wth 3.4m; D 0.6m), an outer bank (Wth 2.2m; ext. H 0.9m) and an outer fosse (Wth 1.8m; D 0.37m) only visible in the SW quadrant. At N cattle have reduced the scarp creating an entrance (Wth 1.2m). There is a small tree plantation in the area immediately NW of the site.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
