The National Monuments Service's description
A peatland survey carried out in 2006 by Archaeological Development Services recorded a togher measuring in ‘width 1.2m, depth 0.07m,length unknown, dated to 170BC— AD110 (Whitaker 2006, 87). Described by Whitaker as ‘this site was located to the east of TI-LTN23c and was visible on the field surface. It was composed of a substantial hurdle platform that was orientated northeast—southwest. It was moderately preserved but had been milled where exposed on the
field surface. The hurdle panel was underlain by irregularly laid roundwood transverse elements. The hurdle was typically composed of regularly spaced heavy brushwood sails interwoven with light brushwood rods. The brushwood varied in diameter from 0.02 to 0.04m. The roundwoods had average diameters of 0.08m. The peat was composed of poorly humified pool peat with moderate Eriophorum and Calluna inclusions’.
