The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on the W-facing slope of a N-S ridge in undulating countryside. Depicted on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map as an irregular tree plantation of nineteenth-century date. A large oval-shaped area (diam. 47m E-W; 92m N-S) enclosed by a low earth and stone bank (Wth 1m; ext. H 0.3m; int. H 0.4m) which is best preserved at S. Gaps occur in the bank at E, SW and N. A shallow outer fosse is visible at S and W only. A possible landscape feature.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
