The National Monuments Service's description

Situated in flat terrain in pasture. A house and farmyard situated immediately W of a tower house (TN041-072001). According to the present owner, Oliver Langley, Archerstown House (ext. dims. c. 12.3m x 9.9m; walls 0.73-0.8m T) was originally two storeys higher. The Langleys have been in possession of Archerstown since the Cromwellian settlement. Fireplaces at the W end of the house, at ground-floor level are at an angle and back-to-back on either side of a partition wall. The Civil Survey (1654-6) refers to 'a stone house, a bawne, a mill in repaire and a castle out of repaire' at Archerstown (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 54). James Archer is listed as proprietor in 1640 (ibid.). This seventeenth-century house is possibly incorporated into Archerstown House which according to Bence-Jones (1988, 7) is a 'two-storey, three-bay, high roofed Georgian house'. The E end of the house was rebuilt by the owner's grandfather. In the E gable of this addition/rebuild there is a single-light window chamfered externally with hood-moulding at first-floor level.
