The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on flat bogland. This site consisted of a metalled road (Wth 1.42m) constructed with intermittent deposits of cobbles and small flagstones which was supplemented by small deposits of brushwood where needed (Murray 1999, Derryfadda 311, 55-6). This track was dated to 1450-1030 BC (Ó Néill 2000, 186).
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
