The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on level ground, sloping very gradually to the SW, in pasture. Depicted on the 1st ed. (1840) OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure abutted at N and E by field boundaries. On the 1902 ed. map only a small section of the W portion is depicted. Portion of the SW quadrant was dug out to provide clay for road filling. The site is not visible at ground level.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
