The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in a low-lying valley, in pasture. A large circular area (diam. 45.3m NE-SW; 44.6m NW-SE) enclosed by a bank and fosse with a gap (Wth 4.4m) in the bank at SE. A large number of deep drainage ditches in the field run into the fosse and a roughly circular drainage ditch has been dug in the interior of the site with a causeway giving access across the ditch to the interior. The site is transected at W by a field boundary oriented NNE-SSW. Only the E half of the site is depicted on the 1904 ed. OS 6-inch map.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
