The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a SE-facing slope of rising ground in a mountainous area. A large circular area (diam. 46m N-S; 44m E-W) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2.9m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 2m) and an external fosse (Wth 1.9m) with a possible entrance gap (Wth 1.5m) at SW. A road intersects the enclosing bank at NE. The low grass-covered wall-footings of a rectangular house site (int. dims. 9m N-S; 5m E-W) are located in the centre of the site. The house site has a sunken interior, is orientated on a N-S axis and is of recent appearance. A smaller ringfort (TN019-039002) is located to the SE, separated by a berm (Wth 8m).

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
