The National Monuments Service's description

Located on a gentle SE-facing slope in gently undulating marshy terrain. A river runs c. 100m N and E of the site. Outlined as a small grove of trees on the 1st ed. (1840) and current (1901-05) OS 6-inch maps. The site has been levelled but is visible as a slightly raised circular area (diam. 28m N-S and E-W) which rises slightly towards the centre with evidence of a much denuded bank (Wth 2.2m; int. H 0.12m; ext. H 0.4m) and shallow outer fosse (Wth 1.2-1.6m; D 0.12m). There are four tree stumps roughly in line NW-SE across the centre of the interior. The indication on the OS 6-inch maps would suggest a tree-ring classification for this site, however it was inspected in 1957 before it was levelled and was confidently described as an earthen ringfort with bank (Wth 1.2m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.84m) and very shallow fosse (Wth 1.5m), badly overgrown with scrub (OPW files, 17.7.1957).

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
