The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a very gentle N-facing slope in undulating pastureland. Depicted as a circular enclosure on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map with field boundaries abutting the NE, SE and NW quadrants. By the 1903 ed. the shape had become irregular and field boundaries formerly to the NE and SE of the site had also been levelled. Ballylusky motte (TN015-020) is visible to the NW and a hall-house (TN010-070) to the N. Not visible at ground level.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
