The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in an area of marsh and rock outcrop on the N shore of Youghal Bay along the E side of Lough Derg. In 1617 the 'castle, town and lands of Tomonia were granted to William O'Meara (Cal. pat. Rolls, Ire., Jas I, 303). There are no earthworks visible at ground level around Tomona castle (TN014-037).
