The National Monuments Service's description
On a hill with extensive views, particular overlooking Lough Derg to the S, in pasture. On the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map this area is shown as being part of Portland House demesne.
A stone seat with a curving back, 5-6 courses high, constructed of mortared rubble limestone walling, with a round-profile cement capping. There is a step up to the seat which consists of a single limestone slab. It is likely to have been built as a viewing point on the Portland estate in the 18th/19th century.
