In the shallow waters of Lough Gara, surrounded by rushes and reeds. There are no views of the open lake due to the surrounding drumlins. A small stone platform (3.8m N-S; 3.4m E-W; max. H 0.35m above the lake-bed) consisting of limestone and sandstone boulders (diam. c. 0.2m) loosely set in the water. There is a medium density of stones in the site body. The edge is distinct in material, but as it consists of these small boulders it is quite irregular in shape. There is a concentration of stones extending out from the NW edge towards the deeper waters, probably overspill from the crannog or a small causeway. It consists of a stretch of loose stones (L 5.6m; Wth 0.4-0.5m) resting on the lake mud. About 1m to SW is another drier area (L 7.2m; Wth 4m) along the W edges of which is a diffuse spread of both angular stones and shattered and fire-cracked stones. According to local information, antlers were found on this site. (Fredengren 2002, KILA 038)
