The National Monuments Service's description
This is a National Monument in State care (no. 518). A roofless rectangular cist (2m N-S; 1.2m E-W) constructed of four stones. One stone (L 2.15m; T 0.3m; H 0.5m) forms the E side and another (L 1.9m; T 0.4m; H 0.75m) the W side. A stone (L 1.6m; T 0.35m; H 0.55m), set slightly beyond the end of these two sidestones, marks the S end of the cist. The N end is closed by a stone (L 1.05m; T 0.2m; H 0.4m) set between the ends of the sidestones. Five stones, protruding from the ground just beyond the N end of the cist, are of uncertain origin. Macalister, Armstrong and Praeger (1912, 331) reported a local claim that the cist had been roofed but that the covering slab had been broken up by rabbit hunters. There is a passage tomb (SL040-093----) c. 20m to SW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
