The National Monuments Service's description

On a broad undulating upland terrace, overlooked to NW by the limestone escarpments of the Bricklieve Mountains. On top of a low elevation which is defined on the SE side by a steep drop to a waterlogged depression or turlough. A roughly square area (26.8m NE-SW; 25.3m NW-SE), with rounded corners, defined by an irregular sod-covered stony spread (Wth 3-5m; H 0.45m), possibly incorporating some field clearance rubble. On the NE side and in parts to NW and SW there is a raised lip (Wth c. 1m; H 0.6m) on the inner edge of the spread. On the SE side the slight stony rise (Wth 2m; int. H 0.35m) merges on the outer edge with the steep drop to the turlough. The interior is generally level but with a slight slope from the centre down to SE. There is a break (Wth 2m) at the S end of the SW side and another (Wth 4m) at the S corner. In the SW quadrant of the interior is a square area (10.6m NW-SE; 10.4m NE-SW) (SL040-033002-) defined on the SW and NW sides by the enclosure wall, on NE side by a low sod-covered stone bank (Wth 1.7m; H 0.2m) and on SE side by a slight rise. The break in the SW wall of the enclosure opens into this partitioned quadrant. A rath (SL040-034----) lies c. 100m to SE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
