The National Monuments Service's description

In the SE quadrant of a rath (SL040-027001-), built on or against the rath's enclosing bank. The remains of a possible rectangular structure (c. 9m NE-SW; c. 5m NW-SE) which is largely engulfed in gorse and brambles. The hut site was difficult to inspect but it appears to be constructed of a low, very degraded earthen bank (Wth c. 0.5m, H 0.3m) with many gaps. Doorways, described as a 'N and S doorway' noted during a previous site inspection in 1978 (SMR (1989) file) are no longer discernible due to the overgrowth.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
