The National Monuments Service's description
Not included in the SMR (1989) but listed in the RMP (1995) and classified 'Hut Site'. Not marked on any edition of the OS 6-inch map. In undulating pasture, on a slight E-facing slope. The remains of a rectangular structure (9.5m N-S; 5.6m E-W at N end; 2.5m E-W at S end), probably of nineteenth-century date, is built against the E-facing slope in a sheltered position from prevailing SW winds. The S wall has been removed and the W side comprises rock outcrop at the S and N ends which is joined by a low drystone wall (L 2.6m; H 0.4m), possibly a later insertion. Elsewhere the walls (T 0.7m; H 1m) are constructed of un-mortared quarried limestone blocks. A disused field boundary (on a N-S axis) abuts the N wall of the house at N. A second field boundary extends E-W across an area of disturbed ground on the S side of the house. This house is post-1700 AD in date.
