The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, straddling the level summit of a ridge with excellent views in all directions. A slightly raised circular area (diam. 42m) defined by an earthen bank (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.55m) N-NW and by a slight scarp NW-N; a small portion of the bank at NE has been removed due to a now disused quarry. The bank is incorporated into a field boundary ENE-S resulting in increased dimensions (int. H 1m; Wth top 1.75m). A drain, associated with the quarry, skirts the external base of the bank E-S. A fosse (D 0.3m) is evident S-SSW and a dark band of grass marks the line of it SSW-NW. The interior is level and clear of overgrowth; mature beech and birch trees grow along the bank. The interior of this rath was cleared of scrub and a portion of the bank at NW (where the scarp now is) was levelled in the early 1960s (SMR (1989) file).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
