The National Monuments Service's description
In level pasture and within field system (SL033-075001-). Described in 1992 (SMR (1989) file) as a large rectangular enclosure (int. L 37m at E end) situated in the SW corner of a much larger field. The enclosure was defined by a bank (Wth 1m) and an external fosse (Wth 1.4m). The entrance (Wth 2.6m) was in the E side and consisted of a passage (L 11m) flanked by banks (Wth 1m) on either side leading from the enclosing bank into the interior. During a subsequent site inspection, the rectangular enclosure could not be identified at ground level. It is partially visible, underlying the extant field system, in an aerial photograph (CUCAP, AJR 22) taken in 1964. A large circular enclosure (SL033-077001-) lies c. 15m to SW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
