The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on nearly level ground, on the E-facing slope of a ridge. A circular area (diam. c. 24m N-S) defined by a scarp (H 1m) E-S, by an earthen bank (Wth 2.6m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.4m) S-W and by a field boundary W-N. A linear field boundary truncates the NE edge of the rath. The E portion of the interior is raised to compensate for the hillslope. There is a drain cut along the inside of the enclosing field boundary W-N. A possible souterrain (SL032-225----) and an enclosure (SL032-076----) are c. 10m to NNE and c. 20m to E, respectively, in the adjoining field.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
