The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on an E-facing slope. A raised rectangular area (15.8m NNE-SSW; 14m WNW-ESE) defined by a low scarp (H 0.4m at WNW; H 0.6m at ESE). The platform is built up on the ESE side to compensate for the natural slope but the interior retains a slight slope down to ESE. The scarp has an almost vertical external face with a hint of an internal lip in parts on the ESE and NNE sides. An infilled field drain (Wth 1m; D c. 0.2m), with the remains of a field boundary on its outer edge, is evident at the base of the scarp on the NNE side and extends to E and W. Indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as a small circular enclosure (diam. c. 15m).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
