The National Monuments Service's description

Not listed in either the SMR (1989) or RMP (1995). A small, approximately rectangular building is marked at this location on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map. On a small level terrace, on the SW bank of a stream, on a S-facing slope of the Ox mountains. A circular earthen structure (int. diam. 2.5m E-W; 2.3m N-S) with vertical sides which are topped by an irregular rim of earth and stone (Wth 3m; ext. H 0.65m). The interior, which is sunken to a depth of 0.6m below the external ground level, is flat and damp. The opening (Wth 0.5m) is at ENE and is approached by a passage (L 1m) which narrows (Wth 0.35m) at its outer edge where it is flanked by two large partially embedded boulders. The structure is engulfed with ferns and moss and there are rushes growing in the interior. Another limekiln (SL031-065001-) is c. 100m to NW. This is probably post-1700 AD in date.
