The National Monuments Service's description

A trapezoidal area (37m E-W; 36.8m N-S at W end; c. 30m N-S at E end) enclosed by a stone wall. Access is through a gate in the W wall. The earliest inscribed headstone noted is dated 1777. The other inscribed examples date mainly to the first half of the 20th century. The majority of grave-markers are, however, uninscribed rectangular blocks which, according to O'Rorke ([1889], vol. 2, 130-31), are reused fragments of the 'abbey' (SL031-005001-) which was in the N half of the interior. A scarp, possibly the remains of a monastic enclosure (SL031-005003-), occurs in the NW corner. An associated holy well (SL031-005005-), called 'Tober Cuimín', remains unlocated. There is a friary (SL031-006001-) c. 60m to the NE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
