The National Monuments Service's description
In low-lying rough pasture, at the base of a ridge. A circular area (diam. c. 22m) covered in rushes, defined by a low rise (Wth 6m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.8m) W-E. A silted up external fosse (Wth 4m) is evident as a band of rushes W-NE. The bank is clearly visible in an aerial photograph (GSIAP, G 290-89) as an arc of light-coloured vegetation NE-SSW while the external fosse is evident as a band of dark-coloured vegetation WSW-E. There is another rath (SL027-142001-) in the same field c. 50m to N.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
