The National Monuments Service's description
In a forest plantation, at the top of a hill. The hut had been inspected in 1982, when the surrounding area had been deep ploughed for tree planting. It was then described as a circular area (diam. 8.5m) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 0.8m at top, 1.5m at base; H 1m) with a possible entrance (Wth 2m) at E; some stones were noted in the base of the bank (SMR (1989) file).
This is a National Monument (no 10070) in state ownership.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
