The National Monuments Service's description
In undulating pasture, on top of the W side of a low ridge. A slightly raised circular area (30.4m NE-SW) enclosed by an earthen bank and an external fosse. The bank (Wth 5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.6m) is evident S-NE, being low internally in places; elsewhere it is incorporated into a linear field boundary which crosses the SE edge of the rath. The fosse (Wth 4m; D 0.9m) is evident S-NE and E-SE on the external side of the linear field boundary. The fosse is most clearly defined SW-NE and evident only as a shallow depression E-SE. The remains of a field boundary (Wth 1.5m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 0.3m) skirt the outer edge of fosse S-SW. The interior is covered by rushes and crossed by a WNW-ESE field boundary. A farm trackway (Wth 2m) crosses the SE quadrant immediately inside the field boundary.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
