The National Monuments Service's description
This monument stood in rolling pasture dominated by the Ox Mountain range to the N. In 1951 a gallery opening onto a flat facade at the SW and surrounded by an outer wall could be distinguished in heavy growth. Examination of the monument during the course of its destruction in 1959 indicated the presence of a portico. A quantity of unburnt bone recovered at this time was deposited in the National Museum. (Ó Nualláin 1989, 57-8, no. 91)
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
