The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, straddling the top of a low knoll. A raised oval area (c. 33m NE-SW; c. 28m NW-SE) defined along the N arc by the remains of an earth and stone bank and by a scarp (H 1.8m) elsewhere. The bank (Wth 6.6m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1.8m) has possible internal and external stone revetment or kerbing. The interior is level. There is a possible souterrain (SL025-090002-) in the NW quadrant. The rath and the surrounding area to SE and S is densely overgrown with blackthorn bushes. There is a disused railway line immediately to SE. A cashel (SL025-089001-) and a souterrain (SL025-089002-) are c. 150m to NNE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
