The National Monuments Service's description

At a break of slope on the NE side of a ridge and immediately NW of a ruined house. A slightly raised circular area (27.6m NNE-SSW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.5m; int. H 1m; ext. H 0.7m) S-N. The bank is incorporated into a field boundary S-W, gradually peters out W-N and is levelled N-S. Surviving sections of the bank are riddled with rabbit burrows. A shallow external depression noted S-W may indicate a silted-up fosse. The interior is level; the W half is cut by forestry trenches and planted with conifers; felled sycamore tree and dense overgrowth cover the E half. There is a square concrete tank (3m x 3m) in the SE quadrant. Mature sycamore trees grow around the perimeter.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
