The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on a gentle NW-facing slope. A circular area (40m NW-SE; 41m NE-SW) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H 0.75m, ext. H 0.9m) NNE-SE and by a scarp (H 1.55m) elsewhere. The bank is relatively narrow and insubstantial and resembles a field boundary. The scarp has a slight internal lip and is topped NW-N by a concentration of stones (Wth 1.4m). The interior is split-level with the change in level marked by a low NW-facing scarp (max. H 0.6m) bisecting the interior slightly NW of the centre. The scarp retains dilapidated stone facing in parts. To SE of the scarp the interior is level, grassy and clear of overgrowth. The area to NW of the dividing scarp slopes down to NW and is strewn with moss-covered stone and dotted with clumps of bushes and brambles. There is a possible souterrain (SL021-099003-) in the N half of the interior and a holy well (SL021-099002-) in the NW quadrant.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
