The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a NE-facing slope immediately above sea cliffs. Circular platform (diam. 33.5m), enclosed by a wide bank of earth and stone (Wth. 8.5m; H 1.2m) with evidence for stone kerbing at its internal foot and stone revetment at its external face, atop a partially naturally-occurring mound of earth and stone (H 1.7m - 5.5m). At the foot of the mound is a fosse (Wth. 2.5m - 3m) with an outer bank (Wth. 4.3m; H 1.1m) which has evidence of stone revetment at its inner face. The outer bank is levelled from NW-N-NE. Break in inner bank at NE (Wth. 3m) with accompanying causeway probably represents original entrance. A large portion of the E of the site is occupied by 'The Derk Hole' a naturally-occurring sea inlet. Within the SE quadrant is a raised area with a hollow to one side.
