The National Monuments Service's description

Situated in a low-lying landscape. The N end (dims c. 70m NNW-SSE; c. 50m NE-SW) of the low NNW-SSE ridge on which the ringwork castle (RO051-047002-) is located at the S end has a ditch around its base as revealed by LiDAR images, which could be interpreted as a bailey (Curley et al. 26-7) or could be a drainage channel.
