The National Monuments Service's description

Visible on aerial photographs (ACAP: V208 27-8). Situated at the N edge of a heart-shaped island (max. dims 100m N-S; 70m E-W towards N) which was in a pool (diam. c. 250m) on a N-S section of the River Suck, but is now attached to the E bank. This is a rectangular flat-topped and grass-covered mound (dims of top 23.2m E-W; 21.6m N-S; dims of base 30.4m E-W; 30.5m N-S; H 1.6-1.8m) defined by a rounded fosse (Wth of top 10.2-11.7m; Wth of base 4-4.4m; D 0.8-1m) SE-S-NW but open to the river elsewhere. A shallower fosse (Wth of top 7-10m; Wth of base 1.3-3m; D 0.4-0.5m) extends S (L c. 20m) and curves E (L c. 8m), cutting off a rectangular portion of the island (dims 18-20m N-S; 14-18m E-W). A mound (RO050-044002-) is situated at the curve of this fosse. The island may represent a Longphort settlement.
