Children's burial ground

The National Monuments Service's description

On a rise towards the bottom of an E-facing slope in an undulating landscape. Oval grass-covered area (dims 34.6m NNE-SSW; 26.8m WNW-ESE) defined by a stone spread SSE-NNW, reduced to a stoney scarp elsewhere. A drystone wall is built on the perimeter SSE-W-ENE, forming the townland boundary with Lugboy N-NE, and extends outside the scarp elsewhere ENE-SSE, creating a rectangular enclosure (dims 34m NNE-SW; c. 34m WNW-ESE). There are small cairns and grave-markers in the interior, but there is no evidence of a church (RO050-007002-), which John O'Donovan writing in the 1830s suggested was known locally as Cill Fhiacláin or Cill Dhiacláin (O'Flanagan 1931, vol. 1, 24). However, a church at Killeglan was recorded in the 1650s (Simington 1949, 106).
