The National Monuments Service's description

Marked as an oval wood described in gothic lettering as 'Fort Derham' on the 1837 and 1915 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a N-facing slope. This is an oval grass-covered area with tree-stumps (dims 147m NW-SE; 55m NE-SW) defined by the slight dip of a ditch (Wth c. 2.5m), but the perimeter survives as a flat-bottomed ditch (Wth of top 3m; Wth of base 1m; int. D 1.75m; ext. D 1.2m) with stone cladding on the inner face of the ditch WSW-SW and at NW. There is an entrance (Wth 2.1m) at NW.
