On a low-lying spur which projects W from the W-facing slope of Slieve Bawn, and lying between two streams which converge at W. Oval, grass-covered level area (dims 44.8m E-W; 34.7m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth of base 4m; Wth of top 1.6m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 2.4m) and flat-bottomed fosse (Wth of top 8m; Wth of base 3.4m; D 1.9m) at E, the natural wooded slope (H 6m; Wth 8m) with an overgrown field bank (Wth of top 1.7m; int. H 0.7m) on top at S, a scarp (H 1.7m; Wth 3.2m) and berm (Wth 3.2m) over the natural wooded slope (H 5m; Wth 12m) at W, and the natural wooded slope (H 8m; Wth 12m) at N. There is an entrance (Wth 2.6m) and causeway (Wth 4m; H 0.7m) at the centre of the perimeter at E. Rath (RO029-126----) is c. 120m to the E.
