The National Monuments Service's description
Marked as a chapel on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, but its idendity as a chapel could not be confirmed (OS Name Books). Situated on a N-facing slope of an oval grass-covered hillock (dims 50m NW-SE; 28.6m NE-SW at SE to 33m NE-SW at NW; max. H 5.2m at NW to 7.2m at SE), which was regarded as an ancient assembly point (ibid.). Rectangular structure (int. dims c. 10.3m NE-SW; c. 8.8m NW-SW) defined by a grass-covered mound (Wth c. 4m; H 0.5-0.9m) with some facing-stones visible. It is regarded as the site of a monastery (Fitzmaurice 1988), and it may be the site of a castle. Cashel (RO023-010001-) is c. 100m to the NE, and cashel (RO025-008001-) is c. 160m to the NNE.
