The National Monuments Service's description
The Dominican priory (RO022-114006-) may have been derelict in 1595 when Sir Richard Bingham fortified it with a tower house (O'Conor 2007, 196) and placed Tulsk under the command of Capt. George Lane. It was demolished in 1651 by Sir Charles Lane on instructions from the Lord Deputy (Gormley 1989, 37). The W wall of Bingham's tower and adjacent fragments of the N and S walls survive to three storeys in the chancel of the priory. There was a doorway in the N wall at the ground floor, and fireplaces in the W wall at the first and second floors. It is within a subrectangular graveyard (RO022-114008-), and the field system (RO022-113001-) extends off to the SW. The O'Conor Roe tower house (RO02-114011-) is c. 100m to the NE.
