The National Monuments Service's description

The church of Killynagh, listed as Kilnecayr in the ecclesiastical taxation of Elphin in 1306 (Cal. Doc. Ire. vol. 5, 223), is marked on a map of 1591 where it is described as Kilcowla (Andrews 2005, Pl. V; Brady et al. 2005, Pl. 4, 1). A hundred and thirty acres at Killeineher is described as Church land in Elphin parish in 1641 and this was retained by the Dean of Elphin (Simington 199, 80). The church was probably a Chapel-of-Ease in Elphin parish and is situated on the summit of an E-W ridge. A fragment of the W wall (T 1m; H 4m; L 3.6m) survives within a rectangular graveyard (dims c. 35m E-W; c. 20m N-S) defined by masonry walls, which has been extended to the E. One limestone grave-marker (RO022-067003-) (dims. 0.27m x 0.22m; H 0.4m) has a chamfered edge.
