The National Monuments Service's description
On a rise in a low-lying landscape. Circular grass and rush-covered area (diam. 27.6m WNW-ESE; 26.2m NNE-SSW) defined by a grass-covered earthen bank (Wth 2.5-2.7m; int. H 0.2-0.4m; ext. H 0.5-0.7m) and rush-covered fosse (Wth 1.5m), which is separated by a berm (Wth 1-2m) from the base of the bank WNW-N, the fosse being re-cut and quite wide (Wth 7m; int. D 0.6m; ext. D 0.3m) here. The modernised entrance (Wth 1.6m) is at N.
The monument is enclosed by an outer earthen bank (Wth 2.5-3m; int. H 0.1-0.4m; ext. H 0.3m) and outer fosse or rush-filled ditch (Wth 1-2m), except WNW-N where the rath fosse has been widened. This outer bank also encloses a rectangular annexe (RO022-044002-) (dims c. 28m NE-SW; 12m NW-SE) outside the rath to the SE. There is a record from 1980 of a field bank (RO022-044003-) extending N (L c. 30m) c. 20m N of the NE angle of the annexe (SMR file), but this feature does not survive. Rath (RO022-045----) is c. 200m to the SE.
