The National Monuments Service's description

First identified in an unpublished archaeological LiDAR report (Davis, 2015) commissioned by Roscommon County Council as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the N5 Ballaghaderreen - Scramoge road development. It is located on a slight W-facing slope. This is a rectangular grass-covered area (dims 18m N-S; 15m E-W) defined by a slight earthen bank (Wth 3.8-5m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.25-0.4m) with the remains of an outer fosse best preserved at E (Wth of top 2.75m; ext. D 0.1m). An E-W leat meets the fosse at the SE angle and exits at the NW angle where it continues W to a pond c. 90m distant.
