The National Monuments Service's description
Marked on the 1837 and 1914 eds of the OS 6-inch map as a wooded enclosure (diam. c. 20m), and situated at the crest of the N-facing slope of a small NE-SW drumlin ridge overlooking Cavetown Lough which is c. 50m to the N. Circular overgrown area (diam. 26m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.8m at N to 5m at E; int. H 0.3-0.7m; ext. H 1.1m), and an outer fosse (Wth of base 2m; D 0.2-0.5m) SW-NW. There is no identifiable entrance. At the centre is a flat-topped mound (RO010-036002-) (diam. of base 6.5m; diam. of top 1.5m; H 1.5-1.7m) which is said locally to have been used as a viewing platform of the lake by the Mahons, local landlords.
