The National Monuments Service's description
An early ecclesiastical site but with no historical references. Situated at the centre of the wooded Hermit Island (dims c. 100m N-S; c. 70m E-W) which is at the centre of Lough Key. The walls of a nave (int. dims 5.55m E-W; 3.4m N-S) of cyclopian masonry (max. H 2m at the W end of the S wall) with a destroyed entrance at the W and an external plinth, together with the foundations of a chancel (int. dims 2.4m N-S; c. 4m E-W) survive with no architectural features. There is no evidence of an enclosure or of burial.
