The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on NE facing slope of rising ground in upland area. Circular area (diam 30m) enclosed by earthen bank (Wth 2.7m; ext. H max. 2m; int. H 0.5m), external fosse (Wth 3m) which is not visible at NE. Modern field fence encloses site from S to W. Stone lined entrance gap (Wth 3m) to E. Interior of site slopes from S to N.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
