The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the W facing slope of high ground below the summit. Large circular area (diam 59m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.5m - 1m; ext. H 3m) which is badly damaged at W and reduced to a scarp in places. There are slight traces of an outer fosse from S through W to N with a modern laneway enclosing the inner bank from S through W to N. No evidence of an entrance feature.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
